The North Side

On the north side of the park is where majority of the playgrounds sit. There is also the Oak shelter with large sitting area, lights, grills, and nearby restrooms, and fire pit. This playground is located in nature around the trees. There is even a natural play area with a stream, sandbox, log, and rocks to climb on. Don’t forget the concrete mushrooms that are fun to play on too.

Then there are three different playgrounds with slides, climbing areas, bridges, spinners, monkey ring bars, and more. One area is more suited for toddlers while the other two are for older kids. They also have swings for both children, infants, and an accessible swing. A favorite feature for the kids is the curved rock wall that you can climb all the way to the top. One playground is known for its slides of all kinds: fast, curvy, and double slides. It has an interactive bottom panel of a train. They also have some unique wave climbing bridges.

They only allow non-gas powered boats on Lake Lenexa, but they have an interesting thing in the parking lot to rent a kayak with paddles and life jacket. You can also fish on the lake. Don’t forget you have to have a fishing license if you are between the ages of 16 and 74. It is stocked with catfish, crappie, sunfish, and largemouth bass. There are also bikes and the restrooms near one of the spilt shelter houses off the parking lot.
